How MANY is One Million?

One Million felt familiar...
...because I've already carried 1000 pieces of P20 bills...

1000 pieces of P20 bills is P20,000

1000 pieces of P1,000 bills is P1,000,000

P20,000 is as MANY as P1,000,000

I suddenly felt at ease and comfortable...
Then, it hit me again. I would experiment further.
Hmmm... 


How many?

I invited some friends, some acquaintances.

I then blindfolded them and ask them to hold the "1000 pieces of P20 bills (P20,000)".
I asked each one to just think aloud. To just comment.


- What's this? Calling cards? Hmmm... This is money. Around a half a mil. (P500,000)
- Bigat naman. Magkano ito? Sampung libo. (P10,000)
- Haha. Lots of money ha. 100 grand. (P100,000)
- Pera ito. Mga half a million. (P500,000)
- Fund raising tickets? Haha. Singkwenta mil. (P50,000)
- Ano kapag nahulaan ko kung magkano akin na? P250,000 ito. New bills.
- Really? I estimate this to around P200,000.


After showing them that they're holding the 20 peso bundles amounting to P20,000. They laughed.
"Ang daya naman, tig bebente eh."

Next...

I blindfolded them again and this time asked them to hold the "1000 pieces of P1000 bills (P1,000,000)"


- Same bundle? You just removed the plastic. Fine then. Exact same feel... P20,000.
- Ano kwarenta mil na? Haha. Ok gets. Sige. P20,000 nga.
- Same weight. Masyadong maraming bente. P20,000.
- Pre... I'll still say half a million. (P500,000)
- P20,000 pa rin. Unless may bundle ka ng singkwenta? e di P50,000. Pero tinanggal mo lang yung plastic.
- Old bills but feels the same. Or could be a trick. I say P100,000.
- Hmmm... Nice play. I bet this is more than P20,000. At least P50,000 this time.

Hahaha. After showing them the P1,000,000 bundle, they were at awe... they were surprised...

- Weird. Didn't feel like a million. It felt normal.
- 1 million na yan? Seryoso? Ang kaunti naman! Hindi naman pala nakakatakot. Parang kayang kaya ko lang kitain ng isang buwan yan e.
- Puro 1k ba yan? That's a million? Bakit parang bitin?
- No ****. That's so few! No way that's a million. (He even counted it just to be sure.)
- .....ok...... (*scratches head*)
- I knew it was a trick. (Counts the bundles to be sure). In P1000s, a million is just too few. Even P100 million now seems too few. It seems very easy too earn.
- This is insane. Looking at this. This is not intimidating. A million sounds powerful. But this is easy. Even ten times this is still very easy.
